Have a running OctoPrint instance connected to your printer, its local address and an API key from a user allowed to read printer status and job information. Keep the OctoPrint host running while you monitor.
Open OctoPrint and confirm it is connected to the printer. Create or copy a user or application API key. An application key inherits the permissions of its user; that user needs permission to view status and jobs.
In Web Config, open My Printers → Add printer → Other printers. Enter the OctoPrint address, including its port when needed, and choose OctoPrint under Connection type.
Enter a name and your API key, then choose Check & add. The connection check reads status only. Select the online profile to show its dashboard.
Each OctoPrint instance becomes one PrintDeck printer profile. Add separate profiles for separate instances, then select the printer you want to follow.
Use OctoPrint for its camera, print thumbnails and printer controls. The PrintDeck connection focuses on job information and temperature monitoring.
Leave the key blank to keep it at the same address. Enter it again when changing the address. OctoPrint must remain connected to its printer to appear online.
